Itchy, Smelly Dog? Yeast Infection May Be the Problem…

Quite a few customers have come in over the last several months asking what to do about their dogs that seem to always be itchy and smelly. If this is you, I encourage you to watch this video by Dr. Becker, a holistic vet that offers great advice.

One of the key things she stresses is that diet is the foundation of health. The way you nourish your dog is either going to help his immune system manage yeast, or it’s going to feed a potential or existing yeast overgrowth situation.

She encourages you to put our pets on what she calls an ‘anti-yeast diet.’ The beauty of an anti-yeast diet is it is also an anti-inflammatory and species-appropriate diet.
Yeast needs sugar as a source of energy. Carbohydrates break down into sugar. Both MDs and veterinarians advise patients with yeast to get the sugars out of their diets.  Not only does this help with the yeast and itching, it’s just plain good for you dog to be on a low sugar/carb diet.

After you watch this video (click on the image), come into the store and we can advise you on some great foods to address this problem.
